Rebrand for an independent cafe

Whitstable Coffee Company is an independent coffee and deli situated in the heart of Whitstable.

The client wanted their new brand to communicate strong influences from the surrounding area and beach. The logo mark itself is a minimal, typographic reflection of the sailboat masts that line the beach front, overlapping to create the W of the cafe name. To keep the logo dynamic I designed 6 different ‘coffee stain’ circles that can be interchanged wherever the logo appears.

The visual relationship with Whitstable Beach is created through photography. Shells, seaweed etc. were collected from the beach to create beautiful, calm backgrounds for the coffee stained logo to sit upon, as well as product shots of the coffee and food available in store. We also delivered transparent bitmaps and patterns for further application by WCC staff in the future which were added to take-away cups, business collateral and menus to create a distinctive brand experience crossing print and digital mediums.
